Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob (Menteri Kemajuan Luar Bandar & Wilayah Malaysia, KKLW) visit ITCC-Penampang on 10th Nov 2015
PENAMPANG: The state government will have full power to plan and determine the implementation of rural development projects under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKLW).
Its Minister, Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakub said that a joint committee between the ministry and the state government which will be co-chaired by him and Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman, will be formed soon.
“I’ve spoken to the chief minister during my courtesy call on him this afternoon (yesterday), and he has agreed to it. “We are currently drafting the terms of reference and after it is completed, I will brief CM again, and once it is agreed upon, I expect our first meeting will be held by early next year.
“I have also briefed the CM on projects that will be implemented in 2016,” he told reporters after visiting the ITCC construction site near here yesterday.
Ismail Sabri explained that the power to plan rural development projects in Sabah will be fully given to the state government.
“I believe the Chief Minister and the state government have better understand of the people’s aspirations, and the actual needs in Sabah.
“We will accept the state government’s proposals such as what projects should be given priority to, and should be implemented urgently.
“The committee will be manned by representatives from the state government including the CM as co-chairman, Rural Development Minister, and KKLW Secretary General.
“I believe views from Sabah should be given priority too, for the state’s development,” he added. Speaking of his visit to ITCC, he said that the ministry is looking into the building’s potential as IT and Gadget centre.
“As I said before, apart from opening IT and Gadget centre in MedanMARA in Kuala Lumpur, we will also open it throughout the country including Sarawak and Sabah.
“We are looking for the most suitable location, and ITCC is one of the venues we are looking at in terms of its suitability, and its developer has designated an area in this building for IT and Gadget centre,” he added.
Also present were ITCC parent company, Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd chairman, Datuk Seri Clarence Bongkos Malakun, Sabanilam Sdn Bhd managing director, Datin Seri Sylvia Malakun, Sabanilam Sdn Bhd Group general manager, Ceasar Mandela Malakun, and Penampang UMNO chief, Datuk John Ambrose.
